The 10th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 27th September 1785 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Cowslip, a bay filly by Highflyer, a sister to Tandem, owned by Mr Richard Hill. A field of 4 runners contested the race, although there were 5 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 125 Guineas. (Equivalent to £18,100 in 2017)
